WHAT IS KANI PASHMINA?

Kani is the Kashmir name given to a wooden Spool which is used most while weaving a shawl on the loom. These shawls are handcrafted using wooden Sticks by artisans.

The Kani shawls originate from the Kashmir region and can be quite expensive because they are handmade. Artisans use cane needles attached to the brightly colored thread to create the intricate, flowing floral motifs that characterized Kani shawls. Coveted for their beautiful appearance and luxurious quality, stylish individuals from all over the world use these shawls as a scarf or light wrap.

An exuberant Pashmina stole is hand spun and hand woven by the womenfolk of Kashmir.

The craft is so superior that it was presented by Emperor Napoleon to his wife, Josephine.
